SPARTANBURG, S.C. ?The cross country coaches selected Mark Maddox of Appalachian State as the Men’s Runner of the Week for September 17.

Maddox earns his second runner of the week award be leading the Mountaineers to a 31-32 victory over North Carolina.  Maddox won the 4 mile race on a very slippery and rain soaked course where he set a new school record with his time of 20:17.

Other Top Performers

Stephen Hammond, a sophomore from Western Carolina who finished eighth at the Catamount Classic with his all time personal best of 15:50 which is almost a minute faster then his previous personal best.

Mike Mentz, a senior from Chattanooga finished fifth at the Western Kentucky Paul Turner Old Timers Classic with a time of 25:30.
