SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Furman midfielder Haris Cekic has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week following a three-goal performance over the weekend in a pair of Paladins’ victories.
The junior from London, Ontario garnered Wofford/adidas Invitational Offensive MVP honors after netting three goals to lead 22nd-ranked Furman (6-0-0) past Robert Morris, 1-0, and UNC Asheville, 5-0. Against Robert Morris, Cekic provided the only goal of the match, and he followed up his performance two days later by scoring twice in the opening 15 minutes of Furman’s victory over UNC Asheville.
Cekic currently ranks third on the team and fifth in the Southern Conference with four goals scored.
Other top performers this week include Appalachian State midfielder Aaron Ammar, College of Charleston goalkeeper Corbin Waller, Georgia Southern midfielder B.J. Reine, UNC Greensboro midfielder Matt Strine and Wofford forward Kentrel Owens.
