Sam Wyche to Join SoCon Television Broadcast Team on SportSouth

SportSouth today announced that former NFL coach Sam Wyche will serve as color analyst for all six Southern Conference football games scheduled to be televised by the network during the 2007 season. Wyche played at Furman before moving on to the NFL ranks. Wyche, former Super Bowl player and coach and inventor of the famed “No Huddle” offense, joins play-by-play announcer Tom Werme in the broadcast booth. Werme, a Charlotte-based broadcaster who has announced Southern Conference events for the past two years, will be the lead announcer for Southern Conference football, basketball and baseball telecasts on SportSouth this year.

“Sam Wyche is a highly credible, nationally recognized football personality as a player, coach and television commentator,” said Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of FSN South and SportSouth.  “Having Sam on the SportSouth broadcast team for Southern Conference football this season further demonstrates our commitment to providing the very best game presentation and network-quality game coverage to sports fans across the Southeast.”

“Sam Wyche is a tremendous addition to our football package on SportSouth,” said Southern Conference commissioner John Iamarino. “He provides all the perspective you could ask for ? a former Southern Conference player, a former NFL player and Super Bowl coach, and a nationally-recognized football analyst. We are thrilled to have Sam work our games.”
