Wofford?s Brandon Waring Named SoCon Baseball Player of the Week

Wofford shortstop Brandon Waring was named Southern Conference Player of the Week for the week ending May 7.

 

The native of West Columbia, S.C. hit four home runs in four games last week. He batted .286 for the week with four walks, eight RBIs and five runs scored. He had a 1.143 slugging percentage. The junior had a game-winning seventh-inning home run as Wofford downed Furman, 9-6, in the first game of a doubleheader. His home run in the second game broke a 1-1 tie as the Terriers posted a 6-1 victory. With the homerun barrage, Waring set the school record for career homeruns (21) and the single-season runs scored record (61).

 

Other standout performances were turned in by: Steven Strausbaugh (WCU), Ricky Orton (UNCG), Drew Davis (Elon), Jerod Faggart (ASU), Alex Garabedian (CofC), Chris Shehan (GSU) and Richard Jones (Cit).
