Spartanburg, S.C. -- The Southern Conference today named Wofford baseball player John Brandt as the TIAA-CREF Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of May 2.

Brandt, a senior from West Union, S.C., hit .304 in five games during the week including three homers and two doubles.  He added 11 RBI and scored four runs for the Terriers.  Brandt tied a career high with five RBI in a 16-9 win over Tennessee last Wednesday.  He went 3-for-6 with four RBI against Georgia Southern last weekend.

Off the field, Brandt boasts a 3.73 GPA and is majoring in biology.  He is a two-time member of the Southern Conference Academic All-Conference team.  Brandt is also a Renaissance Graduate Scholar recipient this year.

Other top performers include College of Charleston’s Ben Lasater (baseball), Chattanooga’s Alyssa Edwards (softball), Davidson’s Matt Webb (baseball), Elon’s Drew Davis (baseball) and Georgia Southern’s Chris Shehan (baseball).
