Western Carolina second baseman Kenny Smith was named Southern Conference Player of the Week for the week ending May 14.

Smith batted .591 (13-for-22), scored 14 runs and drove in 13 as Western Carolina beat Ohio State twice and swept a three-game series at Wofford. The senior had three doubles, a triple and two home runs in five games. With 24 total bases, the Asheville, N.C. native posted a 1.061 slugging percentage and had four multi-hit games. It marks the second time Smith has earned Player of the Week honors this season. He was named Player of the Week on Feb. 26.

Other standout performances were turned in by: Bobby Hubbard (Furman), Blake Murphy (Western Carolina), Brandon Harvey (UNC Greensboro), Chance Smith (The Citadel) and Chris Baker (Appalachian State).
