Georgia Southern outfielder Mike Economos was named Southern Conference Player of the Week for the week ending April 30.
The outfielder hit .643 (9-for-14) in five games during the week with 10 runs scored and nine RBIs. The senior from Atlanta, Ga. had three doubles and two home runs with a 1.286 slugging percentage and a .737 on-base percentage. With Economos leading the way, the Eagles swept a three-game series with Wofford and have won seven consecutive games.
Other standout performances were turned in by: Shane Kirkley (WOF), Kenny Smith (WCU), Ben Lasater (CofC), Pat Irvine (Elon), Guy Welsh (UNCG) and Sonny Meade (CIT).
