Wells, Parris in top 10 as Terrier women's golf places seventh
FARMVILLE, Va. -- Sophomore Erin Wells and senior Laura Parris each earned a top-10 result and the Wofford women's golf team placed seventh out of 13 schools Tuesday at the Tina Barrett/Longwood Invitational in Farmville, Va. The 54-hole, two-day event on the par 72, 6,108-yard course concludes the regular season slate for the Terriers.
Wells was among four players who tied for fourth after she posted an 80-76-79--235 (+19). The finish is her fifth consecutive top-10 result, including all four tournaments this spring.
Parris made a late charge into the top 10 after ending day one tied for 17th. She finished tied for eighth with three others following an 82-78-79--239 (+23).
Sophomore Colleen Rice was the next Wofford scorer with a 33rd-place tying 82-86-80--248 (+32), two shots ahead of freshman Sarah Herbert who carded an 86-84-80--250 (+34) to garner a 38th-place result.
Rookie Ellen Kvarby was the final Terrier in the clubhouse with a 44th-place tying 87-84-84--255 (+39).
James Madison's Diana Meza captured the individual title with a 12-over par 228, while Methodist won the team crown with an 80-over par 944.
Wofford will conclude its 2006-07 slate April 15-17 at the Southern Conference Championship to be held at Patriots Point Links in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Western Carolina Finishes Tied for 11th at John Kirk/Lady Panter Collegiate
STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. - Western Carolina women's golf finished tied for 11th at the John Kirk / Lady Panther Intercollegiate Tuesday shooting a 306 in the final two rounds to end the tournament with a 617. The tournament is hosted by hosted by Georgia State at the 6,009-yard Eagle's Landing Country Club.
Bianca Melone shaved six strokes off her game in the final two rounds to end the tournament tied for 24th after being tied for 54th on Monday. She shot a 73 after have posted a 79 the day before. She ended with a 152.
Desiree Karlson, who was tied for 11th heading into the final round, finished the tournament tied for 30th. She shot a 78 for a two day total of 153.
As a team, Western Carolina was four strokes behind 10th place Elon who shoot a 613.
The Catamounts return to action on April 14-17 at the Southern Conference Championships in Charleston, S.C.
