April 2, 2007 - BOONE, N.C. ? Appalachian State University women’s tennis continued picked up its first conference win with a 5-2 victory over rival Western Carolina Monday afternoon.

In singles competition, Appalachian State won five of the six matches. Freshmen Frances Blanton, Lauren Holton, Caroline Mauch, and Monica Tomas each won their singles matches to help ASU win.

ASU dropped the doubles point as freshman Lauren Holton and junior Frances Blanton was the only doubles tandem to earn points for the Mountaineers. Holton and Blanton defeated freshman Emily Turke and junior Susanna Sjokvist of Western Carolina 9-7.

The women’s tennis team will step out of conference for its next match when it travels to High Point on April 4 to face the Panthers at 1 p.m.
