SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Wofford’s Christopher Williams has been named the Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for April 10.

Williams, a freshman from Knoxville, Tenn., went 3-0 in singles play during the week, including two straight-set conference victories over opponents from The Citadel and College of Charleston.  On April 3, Williams topped Jerry Graham of The Citadel, notching a 6-1, 6-2 victory as the Terriers posted a 6-1 win. Williams followed with another singles win at College of Charleston on April 4, defeating Steven Myers 6-3, 6-3. He concluded his week by clinching a 4-3 Wofford victory over Coastal Carolina with a three-set come-from-behind singles win. He rallied after losing the first set to take a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 win over Andy Caress to clinch the match that was tied at 3-3. With last week’s performance, Williams improves his singles winning streak to five consecutive matches. During that span, he has won three conference matches to improve his singles record to 4-3 in conference play and 10-7 overall.

Other top men’s tennis performers include Appalachian State’s Dimitar Dimitrov, College of Charleston’s Justin Malina and Elon’s Sebastian Bredberg.
