MEN’S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Dominique Young ? Western Carolina

Freshman ? Charlotte, N.C. (Berry Academy High School)

Young won the 200m at the Wake Forest Open with an USA Junior National Qualifying time of 21.21.  Young also finished 6th in the 100m with a time of 10.67. Both performances currently lead the conference.  He also ran the third leg of the 4 x 100m relay, which clocked 41.12 and anchored the 3rd place 4 x 400m relay team (3:12.24) with a split of 48.4.  Both relay times lead the conference. Congratulations to Dominique Young on winning athlete of the week.

 

Other top performers:

Anthony Greer, Sr, Appalachian State (Leland, N.C. Hoggard HS) Greer placed third at the Wake Forest Open in the shot put with a region qualifying and conference-leading throw of 57' 4.25".

 

Brian Smith, So, Wofford (Perry, Ohio - Perry HS) Smith broke Wofford's school record in the 400m with his 50.91 at the Wake Forest Open.

 

Adam Van Nortwick, Sr, Appalachian State (Saranac, N.Y. - Saranac Lake HS) Van Nortwick placed first in the 1500m at the Wake Forest Open with a conference leading time of 3:47.97. He is also an All-Academic athlete.
