Three SoCon Schools Wrap Up Tournament Play on Sunday

Lady Paladins Conclude Play At Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

Athens, Ga. ? Sophomore Kathleen Ekey posted a four-over par 75 to lead Furman to a 311 during the final round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic Sunday morning at the University Club in Athens, Ga.

 

Auburn cruised to the team title with a final round 289 to finish 11 strokes ahead of second place Florida.  Arkansas finished 16 strokes back in third place.  The Lady Paladin finished 16th in the 18-team field.

 

Maria Hernandez (72-73-70=215) of Purdue and Leah Wigger (72-72-71=215) of Virginia tied for individual honors at two-over par for the 54-hole event.

Blair Lamb, who carded a final round 76, and Corrine Carr (74-80-78=232) were Furman’s top finishers placing 45th.

 

Furman returns to the course April 6-8, when it travels to Greensboro, N.C., for the Bryan National Collegiate.

Women's Golf Places 15th, Men Tie for 18th Among Tough Weekend Fields
March 25, 2007 - Appalachian State University women's golf placed 15th among 19 teams and ASU's men tied for 18th among 20 teams as both Mountaineer squads competed in perhaps their toughest respective fields of the spring at the William & Mary Invitational and Furman Intercollegiate this weekend.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday for the inaugural University Cup mixed match play challenge versus Gardner-Webb at Mimosa Hills C.C. in Morganton, N.C.

Cougar Women’s Golf 14th at Mountain View Collegiate

The College of Charleston women’s golf team shot a 304 in the third and final round to finish with an 898 total and 14th at the Mountain View Collegiate held this weekend at the Mountain View Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.  Nebraska won the tournament with a three-round total of 866.  Indiana’s Elaine Harris earned individual medalist honors with a 209 in 54 holes.

 

Emily Rapp led the Cougars, tying for 14th with a 218.  Steffi Kirchmayr and Megan Miller tied for 59th with a 228 each, while Fiona Puyo and Dinah Plyler tied for 69th with a 230 each.

 

Charleston next travels to Greensboro, N.C. April 6th to take part in the Bryan Park Intercollegiate.
