DAVIDSON, N.C. - Appalachian State claimed five of the six singles contests and the doubles point to defeat Davidson 6-1 in Southern Conference men?s tennis action Tuesday afternoon at Covington Courts. The loss was the second straight for the Wildcats as they fell to 6-11 overall and 1-4 in conference duals, while ASU improved to 7-4 and 2-1.
Though the Mountaineers won by five, three of the singles contests were decided in the maximum number of sets, all ASU triumphs, while the second-seeded doubles contest went extra games.
Despite the loss, Davidson?s Eric Noble concluded the day for the Wildcats with two victories. Noble teamed with Phillip Compeau at the third spot to defeat the Mountaineers? David Doverspike and Lee Floyd, 8-6, before meeting Doverpike again in singles play and handing him another setback, 7-5, 6-3.
The Wildcats continue their three-match homestand Saturday when they entertain College of Charleston at 1:30 p.m.

STATESBORO, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern men’s tennis team fell 7-0 to the No. 44-ranked Elon Phoenix Tuesday afternoon at the Hanner Fieldhouse Courts.
The Eagles picked up a doubles win from Matthew Sands/Neil Shine who defeated Sebastian Bredberg/Austin Fenn 8-6 at the No. 3 spot. But GSU was unable to capture the doubles point, dropping the Nos. 1 and 2 matches. Emmanuel Nkoueleue/Philip Prins fell 8-4 to Damon Gooch/Mason Schermerhorn at No. 1 and Joris De Weerdt/Borja Malet lost 8-4 to Anuwat Dalodom/Gustaf Asplund at No. 2.
In singles action, the Phoenix swept the Eagles in all six matches. De Weerdt fell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 to Gooch. Greg Bekkers dropped his No. 2 match 6-3, 6-2 to Dalodom and Nkoueleue fell 6-2, 6-3 to Schermerhorn at No. 3. Sands lost the No. 4 match 6-1, 6-0 to Bredberg. Prins dropped the No. 5 match 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 to Asplund and Malet fell 6-4, 6-0 to Fenn in the No. 6 slot.
The Eagles travel to Furman and Wofford this weekend for league matches.
