STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern women’s tennis team lost their first Southern Conference match of the season Monday afternoon 4-3 to Elon.
The teams split the singles matches, each collecting three wins. Kristi Kegerreis won her No. 2 match 7-5, 7-6 (7-1) over Jenn Tucci. Emma Knight picked up a win at the No. 5 spot, defeating Hayley Wahl 6-2, 6-2. Christine Caforio took the No. 6 match 7-6, 6-0 over Francie Rudolph.
Molly Maddox fell 6-1, 6-1 to Deanna Bailey at the No. 1 spot. Heather Reynolds lost 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 at No. 3 to Paige Kensrue. Shea Huxtable fell 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 to Kelley Moore at No. 4.
The Eagles dropped the doubles point to the Phoenix. Maddox/Caforio fell 8-5 at No. 1 and Jessica Matlosz/Huxtable lost 8-5 at No. 3.
Kegerreis/Reynolds picked up an 8-1 doubles win over Kensrue/Whitney Butcher at No. 2.

Greenville, N.C. ? The College of Charleston women’s tennis team lost a tough 4-3 decision to East Carolina at the ECU Tennis Center in Greenville, N.C. on Monday.
The loss drops CofC to 8-4 overall, while East Carolina improves to 13-6.
The Cougars will return to action on Mar. 20 at the Patriots Point Tennis Center in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. against Jacksonville State beginning at Noon. The Lady Pirates will face Houston on Mar. 23 in Charleston, S.C.
