SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference named Elon’s Tracey Dahlen as the Player of the Week with Chattanooga’s Ashley Frizzell being named Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 19.
Dahlen, a junior from Pasadena, Md., hit .600 (9-of-15) from the plate for the Phoenix last week. The shortstop slugged 1.200 and posted a .667 on base percentage. Dahlen recorded three home runs, including a walk-off to give Elon a 4-3 win over Stetson on March 16. She also tallied 12 putouts and 15 assists in the field for the Phoenix.
Frizzell, a senior from Soddy Daisy, Tenn., went 2-0 and recorded her second shutout of the season with a 7-0 victory over Florida International on March 16. The right hander recorded nine strikeouts and only walked one batter in 15 innings of work for the Mocs. Frizzell also posted a 0.47 ERA for the week.
Other top performers for Player of the Week include Appalachian State’s Danielle Peters, Chattanooga’s Laci Upchurch, College of Charleston’s Kristie Shifflett and Western Carolina’s Stephanie Beatty.
