SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that UNC Greensboro’s Drew Younts has been named the Men’s Golfer of the Week while Wofford’s Erin Wells was named the Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of March 14.

Younts, a freshman from Stokesdale, N.C., set a school record and broke the course record at the El Campeon Golf Club after firing a 63 in the opening round of the Mission Inn Collegiate Invite on March 10.  Younts recorded his first collegiate Top 10 finish after placing eighth and he also helped lead the Spartans to a second-place finish among 16 teams.

Wells, a sophomore from Louisville, Ky., notched the first individual title in program history after shooting a 74-71­­?145 to win the Diet Coke Wofford Intercollegiate on March 6.  Her 71 on the second day was the only under-par round in the field.  She won the individual title by three strokes to lead Wofford to the team crown.  Wells has finished in the Top 10 in four-straight tournaments, including tying for seventh at the Bethune-Cookman Spring Invitational and tying for second at the North/South Intercollegiate yesterday.

Other top performers include Chattanooga’s Jonathan Hodge, College of Charleston’s Harrison Moore and Steffi Kirchmayr, The Citadel’s Brittany Nagel, Furman’s Robert Jamieson and Kathleen Ekey, Georgia Southern’s Bryan Jones, Western Carolina’s Andres Cuenca and Malin Fryk and Wofford’s John Gault.
