SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference named Chattanooga’s Tara Tembey Player of the Week while teammate Brooke Loudermilk was named the league’s Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 12.
Tembey, a junior from Folsom, Calif., hit .429 (9-of-21) to lead the Mocs to a 4-2 week. The shortstop recorded two doubles and a triple, including a double in the 1-0 win over No. 24 North Carolina State. Tembey knocked in two runs in the 8-0 win over Villanova at the UCF adidas Invitational over the weekend. She batted a 1.000 with four hits in the doubleheader against Jacksonville State on March 6.
Loudermilk, a freshman from Locust Grove, Ga., made four starts and completed 31 innings of work for the Mocs last week. The right hander tossed four complete games, including three straight shutouts against Long Island, Villanova and No. 24 North Carolina State. She finished the week with 36 strikeouts and a 0.68 ERA.
Other top performers for Player of the Week include Appalachian State’s Lindsey Glover, Elon’s Paige Goss and UNCG’s Kara Clouser.
