Western Carolina’s Nick Aldridge Named SoCon Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Western Carolina’s Nick Aldridge was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 6.

 

The South Webster, Ohio native averaged 32.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in games against The Citadel and the College of Charleston.

 

The freshman scored 25 points to help Western Carolina defeat The Citadel, 78-68, on Feb. 3. He scored a career-best 39 points in a 74-64 loss at the College of Charleston on Feb. 5.

 

The 39-point salvo was the most points scored by a Southern Conference player this season.

 

In addition, Aldridge played a total of 79 minutes of a possible 80 minutes in the two contests.

 

Other nominees for SoCon Player of the Week included Moussa Diagne (Furman), Stephen Curry (Davidson), D.J. Thompson (Appalachian State), Shane Nichols (Wofford), J’Mel Everhart (The Citadel), Philip McCandies (College of Charleston) and Casey Long (Chattanooga).
