2007 Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament Set for This Week in Charleston
Spartanburg, S.C. ? The 2007 Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament kicks off this week at the North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, S.C. from Tuesday, Feb. 27 through Saturday, March 3.
Western Carolina earned the No. 1 seed after finishing with a 15-3 record in league play. The mark is the first-ever one seed for the Lady Catamounts in school history. Chattanooga will enter this week’s tournament as the two seed. The Lady Mocs are the defending tournament champions and claimed a share of the regular season title with Western Carolina. Davidson landed in the three spot for the second straight year and UNC Greensboro rounds out the top four.
Play begins Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. with the No. 7 seed Appalachian State taking on the No. 10 seed Elon. The No. 8 seed College of Charleston will square-off with the No. 9 seed Furman to close out the first day of action.
On Wednesday, Feb. 28 the quarterfinals kick off with Chattanooga taking on the winner of the Appalachian State-Elon contest followed by Western Carolina facing the College of Charleston-Furman winner. Quarterfinal action continues on Thursday, March 1 at 9:00 a.m. with UNC Greensboro battling the No. 5 seed Georgia Southern followed by Davidson taking on the No. 6 seed Wofford.
The semifinals get underway on Friday, March 2 at 12:00 p.m. with the second contest slated for 2:30 p.m. The championship game is set for Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m.
