Davidson’s Stephen Curry was named Southern Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 20. It marks the third time that the freshman has earned Player of the Week recognition.

 

For the week, the Charlotte, N.C. native averaged 26.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 three-pointers while shooting 51.6 percent (16-of-31) from the field and 9-of-17 from three-point range while leading the Wildcats to victories over Western Carolina (92-59 on Feb. 17) and Wofford (80-73 on Feb. 19).

 

Against Western Carolina, the freshman guard scored 25 points with five treys. He broke the Davidson single-season mark for three-point field goals made in the contest. Against Wofford, he scored 20 or more points for the eighth straight game as he finished with 28 points. Curry was 10-of-20 from the floor with four treys. It marked his 27th double-figure scoring game.

 

Curry upped his average to 20.7 points per game to take over the Southern Conference scoring lead.
