Wofford's John Brandt Named TIAA-CREF Student-Athlete of the Week

Spartanburg, S.C. -- The Southern Conference today named Wofford baseball player John Brandt as the TIAA-CREF Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 14.

 

Brandt, a senior from West Union, S.C., recorded five RBIs and went 4-for-10 in a three-game series against Dayton last weekend.  In the Terriers’ 7-4 win on Saturday, he was 3-for-4 with three RBI’s and one stolen base.

 

Off the field, Brandt boasts a 3.73 GPA and is majoring in biology.  He is a two-time member of the Southern Conference Academic All-Conference team.

 

Other top performers include Chattanooga’s Javier Maldonado (wrestling), The Citadel’s Sonny Meade (baseball), Davidson’s Tia Washington (women’s basketball), Elon’s Chris Chalko (men’s basketball), Furman’s Jessica Lange (women’s basketball), UNCG’s Jeff Hedges and Western Carolina’s Kerri Savery (women’s indoor track and field).
