SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Appalachian State’s Scott Ervin has been named the Wrestler of the Week for the week of Feb. 14.

Ervin, a junior from Weatherford, Okla., posted two victories to lead the Mountaineers to two league wins last week.  He earned six points for Appalachian State in the 22-21 decision over Davidson on Wednesday after recording a fall against Scott Matthews.  He claimed a 2-0 decision over Levi Duyn at 149 lbs. in ASU’s 25-9 win over The Citadel on Sunday.   

For the week, Ervin went 2-0 with one pin.  He improved to 4-1 in SoCon action and 14-1 overall in dual meets this season.  He is currently ranked No. 9 in the NWCA/Intermat poll.

Other top performers include Chattanooga’s Aaron Martin, The Citadel’s Travis Piccard, Davidson’s Jim Avola and UNCG’s Mitchell Johnson.
