SoCon Announces Track & Field Athletes of the Week

MEN’S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Douglas Noreen ? Davidson College

Senior ? Apex, N.C. (History Major)

Noreen finished second in the 800m at the Carolina Classic last weekend.  He recorded a new personal record of 1:54.75, which is just 0.25 seconds behind the conference leader.  His time also broke his indoor school record, which he set at last year's conference championships. Congratulations to Douglas Noreen on being named this week’s the Southern Conference Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Other top performers:

Asmeron Desta, Jr, Appalachian State (Old Fort, N.C., ? Exercise Science Major) Desta finished fourth in the 3000m at the Clemson Invitational in a time of 8:40.28.  This is an 11-second personal record and currently ranks sixth in the SoCon rankings.  His time is also the fifth fastest all-time at ASU.
