Cranford Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team
BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men’s basketball’s Nate Cranford has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team. Cranford, a graduate student pursuing his masters of business administration, is averaging 9.8 points per game this season and shooting 41 percent from three-point range.

Cranford, a native of Harrisburg, N.C., is one of just two Southern Conference players to earn the honor and is now eligible for Academic All-America honors as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

In addition to his graduate studies, Cranford has been torching the twine on the basketball court this season with a team-high 67 three-pointers. On January 6, he set a new single-game school record with 10 three-pointers on 11 attempts at Chattanooga. That performance is currently tied for the fourth-best in the nation this season while his single-game percentage (90.9 percent) is second in the country. He has drained five or more three-pointers four times and is second on the squad in minutes played. In addition, his 192 career three-pointers are the fourth-most in ASU history.

Should Cranford earn Academic All-America plaudits, he would be the first men’s basketball player and the seventh Mountaineer ever to earn Academic All-America status.
