SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Western Carolina’s Chevon Keith has been named the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 13.

Keith, a junior from Ivanhoe, N.C., shot 68.2-percent from the field last week to help the Lady Catamounts finish 1-1 and to remain tied for the top spot in the SoCon standings.  The guard shot 73-percent from the floor (8-of-11) to finish with 16 points in Western’s 76-66 win over Chattanooga.  She also added six rebounds and five steals to her performance last Saturday.  Keith recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 boards in the 83-81 overtime loss to Georgia Southern on Monday.

For the week, Keith averaged 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 3.0 assists per game.  She is among the league’s leaders in scoring (10.5) and rebounding (8.2).

Other top performers include Appalachian State’s Shante Williams, Chattanooga’s Alex Anderson, Davidson’s Katie Hamilton, Elon’s Tiffany Davis, Furman’s Jessica Lange, Georgia Southern’s Tiffany Brown, UNCG’s Brittany Frazier and Wofford’s Kelsi Koenig.
