Wofford's Koenig Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Wofford forward Kelsi Koenig has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for the week ending November 26.

 

The senior from Mandeville, La. returned to her home state and led Wofford to a 69-68 win over Southeastern Louisiana last Tuesday by tallying game-highs in points (18) and rebounds (10). Koenig was 8-of-14 from the field in the contest and grabbed five of Wofford’s 21 offensive boards. Playing in front of more than 100 friends and family just 30 miles from her hometown, Koenig registered her sixth career double-double and her second in three games this season.

 

Through three contests, Koenig ranks fourth in the SoCon in scoring (13.3 ppg) and third in rebounding (8.3 rpg) while leading the Terriers to a 2-1 start. Wofford visits Virginia Tech Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

 

Other top performers this week were Appalachian State’s GiGi Thomas, Chattanooga’s Shanara Hollinquest, Davidson’s Mercedes Robinson, Elon’s Tiffany Davis, Furman’s Kali Holtfreter, Georgia Southern’s Shawnda Atwood and UNC Greensboro’s Jasmine Dixon.
