Offensive Player of the Week
Furman quarterback Renaldo Gray, who led the Paladins to a 52-21 victory at Western Carolina, was named the Southern Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week. Playing his final collegiate game, the Greenwood, S.C. native amassed 292 yards in total offense. He completed 12-of-18 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown and rushed 14 times for a career-high 122 yards and two scores. Furman finished the season with a 6-5 mark, winning its final three games of the season.

Defensive Player of the Week
Appalachian State freshman linebacker D.J. Smith was named the SoCon’s Defensive Player of the Week. Smith registered 14 total tackles in the Mountaineers’ 37-17 triumph over Chattanooga. The Charlotte, N.C. native recorded a one tackle for loss and broke up two passes as Appalachian State limited the Mocs to 398 total yards. With the victory, Appalachian State captured a share of the Southern Conference regular season title and earned a berth in the FCS Playoffs versus James Madison.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Senior Mike Adams booted 10 extra points in The Citadel’s 70-28 victory over VMI in the season finale for both teams. The performance set a school record for extra points. The Orlando, Fla. native finished with 56 extra points, a school single-season record. Adams also finished the year with 92 points, ranking him third on the single-season scoring list.

Freshman of the Week
Elon outside linebacker Brandon Wiggins earned Southern Conference Freshman of the Week honors. The Greensboro, N.C. native collected 18 tackles in a 38-23 victory over Stony Brook in a non-conference tilt. He also registered one tackle for loss and one quarterback hurry. The Elon defense limited Stony Brook to 319 yards, including 87 rushing and 232 through the air.
