Nortz Named Volleyball Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that UNC Greensboro’s Kaitlyn Nortz has been named the volleyball player of the week for November 12.

 

Nortz, a junior from Parma, Ohio., had 32 kills, 16 blocks and a hitting percentage of .417.  She had 14 kills and 9 blocks against Chattanooga.  The Spartans 3-0 defeat of Chattanooga was their first win against the Lady Mocs since 2002.  Nortz had 18 kills and 6 blocks against Western Carolina in a 3-1 victory.

 

Nortz helped the Spartans to their 11-7 conference record marking their best finish in the Southern Conference since joining the league in 1997.  She is second on the team in hitting percentage with .308 and second in kills per game with 3.47.  Nortz leads the team in blocks with 144 and is third on UNC Greensboro’s career block list with 365.

 

Other top performers include Carla Durham of Appalachian State, Tiffany Blum of College of Charleston, Bailee Chastain of Chattanooga, Katie Pierucci of Davidson and Joanna Suddah of Wofford.
