Southern Conference Football Honorees for November 12, 2007
Offensive Player of the Week
Appalachian State running back Kevin Richardson (Elizabethtown, N.C.) earned Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Richardson rushed for a career-best 215 yards on 22 carries and scored touchdowns on runs of 4, 42 and four yards in a 79-35 win over Western Carolina to retain the Old Mountain Jug.

Defensive Player of the Week
Furman outside linebacker Julian Hicks (Atlanta, Ga.) earned Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week recognition. Making his first career start, Hicks recorded a team and career high 11 tackles to lead the Paladins to a 24-22 win at 11th-ranked Georgia Southern. The Furman defense limited the Eagles to 170 yards on the ground, half the team’s average (341).

Special Teams Player of the Week
Wofford’s Sean Lees (Libertyville, Ill.) was named Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. Lees returned three kickoffs for a total of 115 yards in a 42-16 triumph at Chattanooga. Lees returned a kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, his first career touchdown, as the Terriers put the game out of reach.

Freshman of the Week
The Citadel quarterback Bart Blanchard (Rock Hill, S.C.) was named Southern Conference Freshman of the Week. Blanchard completed 22-of-29 passes for 370 yards and three scores in a 42-31 victory over Elon. The 370 passing yards by Blanchard ranked third best performance by a Bulldog quarterback in The Citadel annals.
