Gardner-Webb Open-Appalachian State Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Team
October 5 - BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- The Mountaineer women's cross country team took home a third place finish at the Gardner-Webb Invitational. The Apps came in behind UNC Ashevllie and Gardner-Webb, while beating Wofford College.
Leading the way for Appalachian was sophomore Heather Goldstein. Goldstein ran the 4k course in 16:19 and notched a fourth place finish. Teammate Kathryn Fontenot finished close by grabbing sixth place.
Other Mountaineers competing in the meet were Emily Pomfrey who finished 11th, Kathryn Booker who came in 13th and Emily Hoyt who placed 23rd.
On the men’s side, Todd Wilde carried the Apps. There was no team score, but Wilde placed 4th overall, with teammates Nick O’Keefe and Mike Walker grabbing the next two spots.
ASU will be back home next Friday as they host one of the biggest meets of the season, the Blue Ridge Open. The meet will begin at 5 p.m. and will be run at the State Farm Fields.
Walt Disney World Classic- Furman Men’s and Women’s Cross Country
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The women's cross country team had an excellent showing at the Disney Cross Country Classic this weekend, finishing fourth out of 44 teams.
Freshman Jenna Callahan led the Lady Paladins with a third place finish out of 366 runners and a time of 18:05. Brittany Johnson also helped the Lady Paladins with a time of 18:29.
The Furman men also ran well, despite poor weather conditions, and finished seventh out of 41 teams in the race.
Walt Disney World Classic- Elon Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Team
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Sophomore Caitlin Beeler's fifth-place finish at the 2007 Disney Classic helped lead the Phoenix to a fifth-place team finish out of 44 teams. Beeler's completed the race with a time of 18:11.56.
Junior Anna Mae Flynn was Elon's second runner, placing 23rd overall with a tme of 18:52.96, while freshman Emily Fournier came in 35th (19:03.45).
Senior Katelyn Ealer's time of 19:332.08 placed her at 51st overall (fourth for Elon), with junior Katie White in 69th with a time of 19:48.72.
Rounding out the Phoenix finishers were Alissa Wilke (99th/20:20.65), Jessica Doan (106th/20:24.16) and Katy Burns (172/21:23.51).
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The Elon men's cross country team finished fourth out of 41 teams at the 2007 Disney Classic Saturday morning.
Junior Rick Myers led the Phoenix, placing 23rd with a time of 26:20.97. Freshman Matthew Richardson followed Myers, pacing his way to a 27th place finish with a time of 26:27.75, while junior Eric Lewandowski's time of 26:39.68 put him 33rd overall.
Senior Eric Garren finished with a time of 26:55.55, good enough for 46th place, with junior Jason MacCollum placing 53rd with a tme of 27:05.30. Freshman Justin Gianni wrapped up the race for Elon, placing 71st with a time of 27:29.84.
