SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Forwards Suzanne Sittko of Davidson and Kelly Attayek of UNC Greensboro have been named Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Co-Players of the Week after each led their respective squads to a pair of league victories last week.
Sittko and Attayek each tallied identical two-goal, one-assist resumes during the week. Sittko, a sophomore from Greenwood Village, Colo., began the week by scoring both goals in Davidson’s key 2-1 win over College of Charleston, handing the Cougars their first conference loss of the season. She followed that effort with an assist against Western Carolina on Sunday, as the Wildcats (10-4-1, 5-1-1) notched a 3-0 shutout.
Attayek scored in both of the Spartans’ contests last week, beginning with a goal and an assist in UNCG’s 7-0 win over The Citadel. The Raleigh, N.C. native continued her strong play on Sunday afternoon when her goal in the 36th minute proved to be the game-winner against Furman. Attayek has been a big factor in helping UNC Greensboro (10-3-1, 7-0-0) to extend its Southern Conference regular season unbeaten streak to 17 matches, dating back to last season.
Other top performers this week were Appalachian State’s Casey Cleary, College of Charleston’s Julie Romanik, The Citadel’s Jessa Scott, Western’s Carolina’s Bri Cunningham and Wofford’s Erika Bishop.
