SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Appalachian State’s Brittany Zahn has been named the volleyball player of the week for October 22.

Zahn, a senior from Charlotte, N.C. had 54 kills, 26 digs, 8 blocks and a hitting percentage of .301 to lead the Mountaineers to a 3-0 record against conference opponents Western Carolina and Chattanooga as well as a non-conference win against rival East Tennessee State.

Zahn had 15 kills, 6 digs and a hitting percentage .269 against East Tennessee State.  She compiled 19 kills, 13 digs and a hitting percentage of .325 against Western Carolina in a 3-0 win.  Zahn recorded 20 kills, 7 dig and a hitting percentage of .318 against Chattanooga.  She improved to 4.91 kills per game and ranks in the top 25 in the NCAA in that category.

Other top performers include Deanna Patrick of College of Charleston, Emil Lucci of Elon, Chibuzo Aguocha of Furman, Bailee Chastin of Chattanooga, Kaitlyn Nortz of UNC Greensboro, Kittery Neale of Davidson, Jelena Jakovljevic of Western Carolina and Stacy Byrd of Wofford.
