Charleston, S.C. -- College of Charleston goalkeeper Corbin Waller was named to the National Team of the Week by CollegeSoccerNews.com for the week of Oct. 14.
“Corbin has been very influential both on and off the field as a lead for us this year,” said CofC Assistant Coach Troy Lesesne. “Congratulations to him on this wonderful honor.”
Waller, a senior from High Point, N.C., led the Cougars to victory in their first two Southern Conference match-ups against Elon and UNC Greensboro.
His sixth shutout of the season came against the Elon Phoenix who were previously undefeated in conference play. In Charleston’s first SoCon game of the season, Waller dove to stop a penalty kick with just two minutes left in the first half to keep the game scoreless.
The win at UNCG was the first for the Cougars since the series between the schools began. He allowed only one goal during game. He has allowed only 11 goals in 1097 minutes of play, giving him a .909 save percentage.
Waller and the Cougars continue SoCon play when they host Furman at 6 p.m. during Alumni Weekend, Saturday, October 20, at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
