Furman's Fry Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Furman midfielder Rachel Fry has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after scoring three goals and leading the Lady Paladins to a pair of league victories.

 

Fry began the week with an unassisted goal at Georgia Southern Thursday afternoon in Furman’s 3-1 victory. The Gambrills, Md. native scored both of the Lady Paladins’ goals Sunday afternoon in a 2-0 shutout over Wofford. Through 15 matches this season, Fry sits second in the SoCon leaderboard in points (19) and assists (five), and she is third in goals (seven).

 

Other top performers this week were Appalachian State defender Lauren Bouffard, College of Charleston midfielder Megan Manthey, Elon forward Molly Calpin, UNC Greensboro goalkeeper Katherine Ryan, Western Carolina midfielder Nikki Lombardo and Wofford goalkeeper Katie McChesney.
