MEN’S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Zeb Johnson ? Western Carolina

Junior ? Charlotte, N.C. (Garringer HS ? Entrepreneurship Major)

Johnson ran 21.59 in the 200m @ the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.  He also finished second in the 60m in the university section with a time of 6.92, split 47.0 on the 4 x 400m relay in the prelims, and then split 47.0 again in the finals to lead Western to a first place finish with a time of 3:13.07.  Johnson currently leads the SoCon ranking list in the 60m at 6.80, the 200m at 21.59, the 400m at 49.01 and as a member of the 4 x 400m relay team.

 

 

Other top performers:

Jeff Williams, Sr, UNCG (South Plainfield, N.J. ? Sociology Major) Williams won the 800 meters at the Niswonger Invitational in a time of 1:54.50. Williams bested 81 other runners in the event and finished almost a full second over the next closest finisher. This is his second win in as many indoor meets in 2007. His time is also a conference leader.

 

Adam Van Nortwick, Sr, Appalachian State (Saranac Lake, N.Y. ? Athletic Training Major) Nortwick finished third in the Niswonger Invitational 3000m with a time of 8:25.89.  His time leads the SoCon and ranks 4th all-time at Appalachian.  Nortwick has also earned two Academic All-American honors in his career.
