DAVIDSON, N.C. ? Sam O’Hair gave Davidson its lone victory in a dual wrestling meet against visiting UNC Greensboro on Wednesday evening at Belk Arena as the Spartans won the match, 38-3. With three forfeits and a pair of major decisions, UNCG improved to 5-2 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in league competition. The Wildcats dropped to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Spartans’ Jeff Hedges began the meet by posting a major decision over freshman Ben Altman, 13-4. Following three straight decisions for UNCG, Davidson had to forfeit at 157, making the score 19-0.
Another decision at 165 in favor of Mark Ring of UNCG and a forfeit at 174 boosted the advantage to 28-0 before O’Hair blanked Scott Snyder in a 3-0 decision, putting the ’Cats on the board.
Nick Clark gave UNCG a second major decision, 16-4, at 197 before a forfeit at heavyweight concluded the match.
Davidson wrestles again on Friday evening at Gardner-Webb at 7 p.m. The Spartans, meanwhile, next host conference favorite Chattanooga on Saturday morning beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Durham, N.C. ? The Citadel wrestling team was victorious in both matches of a tri-meet hosted by Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C. on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs shut out Campbell 54-0 and defeated the host Blue Devils 19-17.
The Bulldogs dominated the Camels thanks to five pins and three major decisions as they won every weight class of the match. Freshman Matthew Leach at 133 pounds, junior Darius Caldwell at 174, senior John Dickerson at 184, and junior John Buck at 285 all notched falls for The Citadel against Campbell. Junior Levi Duyn also earned a pin for the Bulldogs at 149 pounds, his 12th of the season. Freshman Tyler Sim took a 13-2 major decision against Richie Apolinar at 125 pounds, while senior Travis Piccard won by a major decision of his own with a 13-4 victory over Steve Wiktorek at 157. Freshman Zachary Filter also won by major decision, an 11-0 victory against Jeffrey Cote at 165 pounds.
In the match against Duke, The Citadel and the Blue Devils split the 10 weight classes but the Bulldogs gained an edge thanks to the second pin of the day by Caldwell against John Barone in 4:01 at 174 pounds. Piccard won by major decision for the second time in two bouts on the day, a 13-5 decision over Jared Sernoffsky. Others to notch victories for The Citadel were Sim, Leach and Buck. Sim won a 3-2 decision over Kellan McKeon at 125 pounds, Leach defeated Spencer Jasper 5-4 at 133, and Buck earned an 11-4 victory against Mike Tunick in the heavyweight class.
Duke defeated Campbell 38-8 in the other match of the tri-meet. With the two victories, the Bulldogs improve to 3-4 on the season while the Blue Devils sit at 7-4 after going 1-1 on the night. Campbell is now 2-12-1 after losing both of their matches in the tri-meet.
