SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Chattanooga’s Matt Keller has been named the Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 24.

Keller, a senior from McDonald, Tenn., recorded a team-best 20 points to help lead the No. 16 Mocs to a 3-1 record at the Chippewa Challenge on Sunday.  Wrestling at 133 lbs., he tallied a pin in Chattanooga’s 46-6 victory over Gardner-Webb and recorded technical falls against Eastern Illinois and Cal Poly.  Keller added a major decision against No. 7 Central Michigan as the Mocs fell to the Chippewas 21-13 for their first dual loss of the season. 

For the week, Keller went 4-0 with one pin and improved his national ranking to No. 7 in the NWCA/Intermat Wrestling Poll.  This is his second wrestler of the week honor.

Other top performers include Appalachian State’s Scott Ervin, UNCG’s Joe Lowe and VMI’s Cory Murray.
