SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that UNC Greensboro’s Jeff Hedges has been named the Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 17.

Hedges, a junior from Havre, Mont., went undefeated at 125 pounds to lead the Spartans to a 2-1 record in dual meets last week.  He recorded a fall victory over Gardner-Webb’s Cortney Roberts in UNCG’s 36-9 win on Wednesday.  Hedges tallied a major decision over Buffalo’s Dan Bishop in the Spartans’ 22-14 loss also on Wednesday.  He grabbed his first conference win of the season with a 23-7 technical fall over Appalachian State’s Frank Celorrio in UNCG’s 30-15 league win on Sunday.

For the week, Hedges went 3-0 with one pin and improved to 13-4 overall on the season.

Other top performers include Appalachian State’s Scott Ervin, Chattanooga’s Aaron Martin, Davidson’s Marcus Boyd and VMI’s Tommy Cunningham.
