Spartanburg, S.C. -- The Southern Conference today named Davidson women’s soccer player Bevin English as the TIAA-CREF Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of September 27.

English, a junior goalkeeper from Charleston, S.C., was named the SoCon Women’s Soccer Player of the Week this week after allowing only one goal last week to lead the Wildcats to a 3-0 record including a 3-1 conference win over Georgia Southern on Sunday.  She notched four saves in the 3-0 win over Charlotte on Tuesday.   In the first-ever meeting between UC Santa Barbara and Davidson, English had a week-high five saves in the 1-0 victory on Friday and recorded her second shutout of the week and third of the season.

Off the field, English boasts a 3.76 GPA and is majoring in biology.  She is a two-time member of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and was named to the 2005 Fall Academic All-Conference Team.
