Alabama A&M 5, Chattanooga 1
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ?- Nikki Brannen and Chelsea Hurst combined for the third time this season to score Chattanooga's lone goal of the game Thursday afternoon at Bulldog Field.
Alabama A&M, led by Rachel Sepeng, defeated UTC 5-1 in Huntsville. The Lady Mocs, 3-4-1, missed an opportunity to score early in the contest shooting the ball high over the goal from close in.
Sepeng tallied two of her three goals in the first half then pushed in another goal midway through the second half for the hat trick.
The Bulldogs scored at the 12:42 mark to take a 1-0 lead on Sepeng’s first goal then increased the lead to 2-0 on her second score and would take that lead into the half.
Alabama A&M tallied another pair of goals from Alberta Annan and Sepeng for a 4-0 lead before Brannen would hook up with Hurst to put the Lady Mocs on the board. The Bulldogs Belinda Kanda scored at the 71:28 mark for the final 5-1 score.
Chattanooga outshot the Bulldogs 21-19. Stacey Matthiessen tallied seven saves playing the entire game in goal for UTC while Priscilla Mensah had one save in 60:27. Perryn Johnson finished out the game in goal for A&M and had three saves with one team save for the Bulldogs.
The Lady Mocs will face Southern Conference foe Furman Sunday afternoon at the North River Soccer Complex. The game is set to kick off at 4 p.m.
