Spartanburg, S.C. -- The Southern Conference today named Appalachian State volleyball player Lorelle Rau as the TIAA-CREF Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of September 20.

Rau, a junior setter from Oakland Park, Fla., led the Mountaineers to a 2-2 record last week, including a 3-0 win over Chattanooga on September 13 to open conference play. She recorded 63 assists in the match, tying her career-high and tallied 196 assists in four matches, moving her into fifth place in the ASU record books for career assists.  She is averaging 12.24 assists per game this season and has a total of 2,133 career assists.  She also recorded 29 digs and 14 kills on the week.

Off the court, Rau boasts a 3.708 GPA and is an art management major.  She is a member of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and was named to the 2005 Academic All-Conference team.
