SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Georgia Southern’s Jon Cox has been named the Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of September 12.

Cox, a redshirt freshman from Alpharetta, Ga., started in both contests at the Centenary Classic last weekend in Shreveport, La. After recording three shots on goal against Oral Roberts in the first game, Cox led the Eagles to a 3-0 shutout over host-team Centenary on Saturday. He recorded two goals, including the game-winner, on three shots.

On the week, Cox recorded two goals and four points on seven total shots, five of them on goal. He was also named to the Cenenary Classic All-Tournament Team for his efforts.

Other top performers include Appalachian State’s Juan Obregon, College of Charleston’s Corbin Walker, Davidson’s David Sartorio, Elon’s Will Mason, Furman’s Jon Leathers, UNC Greensboro’s Scott Jones and Wofford’s Reed Blair.
