STATESBORO, GA ? Kevin Chambers, Georgia Southern’s head men’s soccer coach the past 10 years, resigned on Friday (July 28). He will stay affiliated with the university, working in the Office of Admissions.

Chambers accumulated a 71-105-18 record during his tenure as the Eagles’ head coach. A former player and assistant coach at Georgia Southern, Chambers coached three NSCAA All-South Region picks, 12 All-Southern Conference selections and six members of the SoCon All-Tournament team. He also coached Tony Moffat, the 2003 Southern Conference ?Player of the Year’.

“I’ve been associated with Georgia Southern athletics for more than half my life, first as a player then assistant coach and most recently as the head coach. This was not an easy decision to make, but I knew I wanted to stay affiliated with Georgia Southern University. I am looking forward to the new opportunities that lie ahead,” said Chambers.

In 1997 he led the Eagles to their first-ever national ranking, finishing the year at 14-4-2 as he was named Southern Conference ?Coach of the Year’.

According to Director of Athletics Sam Baker, “With the impending start of the season, it is imperative that we move quickly to identify a replacement. I thank Kevin for all his efforts throughout his tenure as our head men’s soccer coach.”
