Charleston, S.C. -- College of Charleston junior right-handed pitcher Nick Chigges has been named to the second team National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-American squad, it was announced on Tuesday.
Chigges also earned second team Louisville Slugger All-American honors in May.
Chigges was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year, earned co-MVP honors in the SoCon Tournament and was also named to the Lexington Regional All-Tournament squad.
Chigges posted an 11-2 record and ranks second nationally with a 1.40 ERA. He pitched 115.2 innings and allowed 86 hits with 48 walks and 100 strikeouts. Opponents hit just .205 against the Columbia, S.C. native.
The Cougars are ranked as high as 11th nationally after finishing with an overall record of 46-17. CofC became the first team in Southern Conference history to play in an NCAA Super Regional.
