DURHAM, N.C. -- On Monday, the Elon University baseball team received its first top-25 national ranking since moving to NCAA Division I play. Baseball America's top-25 poll lists the Phoenix at #25.

Elon was among others receiving votes in the last few Baseball America polls, but cracked into the top-25 with a 3-1 week. The Phoenix now sits at 42-14, a program record for wins, and won the 2006 Southern Conference regular season crown by taking two games from UNC Greensboro in the last series of the year. Elon has won 20 of its last 23 outings.

Rice (46-10) sits atop the poll. The Phoenix has squared off with two other teams in the Baseball America top-25 this year - #3 Clemson and #4 North Carolina. San Francisco (37-19) is also making its first-ever appearance in the poll and sits just ahead of Elon at #24.

The baseball program becomes just the second Elon team to move into a national top-25 poll. The Elon football squad achieved a ranking of 16th in 1999.
