MEBANE, NC ? Behind Angie Hill’s tournament low round of 68 in the final round, the College of Charleston captured its first Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Sunday at the par 72 Mill Creek Golf Club.

 

The Cougars finished the rain-shortened 36-hole championship with a two-day cumulative total of 585, besting second place Western Carolina (587) by two strokes.

 

The College of Charleston becomes just the third institution all-time to capture the honor, as prior to the Cougars’ victory Western Carolina and Furman had stood as the only schools to garner the title.

 

Hill’s two-round total of 138 left her six-under-par for the championship and earned the senior her first SoCon individual title.

 

Western Carolina’s Bianca Melone shoot a 71 on both days of the championship to conclude the championship with a two-round total of 142 and tie for second place individually with UNC Greensboro’s Ashley Mylton.
