Senior Gina Sterchi (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and junior Aurora Johnson (Macon, Ga.) each had two hits and three runs batted in while sophomore Melissa Laliberte (Cobourg, Ontario, Canada) held the Lady Bucs to just three hits.

The Eagles put three runs on the board in the first inning, taking advantage of two Charleston Southern errors.  All three runs were unearned and Georgia Southern left the bases loaded.

The Lady Bucs answered with a run in the bottom of the first on a triple and a wild pitch, but GSU kept pace with a run in the second.

In the fourth, junior Heather Smith (Williamson, Ga.) and Sterchi walked, bringing up Johnson, who ripped a three-run homer down the left field line to put the Eagles up 7-1.  GSU completed the scoring in its final at-bat with three more runs, all unearned, with two coming off the bat of Sterchi thanks to a two-run single.

Laliberte (6-5) went the distance, giving up three hits and one earned run while striking out three.

Free (5-5) made quick work of CSU, allowing the one hit, a third-inning double, and struck out a season-high 10 batters.

GSU jumped out on top with a four-run second inning, receiving a two-run triple from freshman Carrie Mixon (Statesboro, Ga.) and added two more on a groundout and an error.  The Eagles added an insurance run in the fourth on a single by Smith.
