PINEHURST, NC - Angie Hill shot a 73 the third round to finish second and lead the College of Charleston to eighth after the final round of the Edwin Watts/Pinehurst Challenge held this week at Pinehurst #8. Maryland won the tournament while UNC Wilmington's Michelle Jarman won individual medalist honors for the second year in a row.
UNC Wilmington finished tied for second along with Mississippi State with a 922, just five strokes behind leader Miami. Finisihing fourth was Iowa was with a 933 and in fifth was 2005 defending champion Washington State with a 935. Charleston totaled a 946 after shooting a 324 the third round.
Following Hill's 223 total and second-place finsih, was Gretchen Zoeller, who shot a 233 to tie for 14th. Julia vonRohrscheidt tied for 51st with a 243 and Megan Miller tied for 70th with a 248. Rounding out the Cougar effort was Jenn Bellso, who shot a 251 to tie for 79th.
Three Cougars competed as individuals with Amber Kuss finishing tied for 62nd with a 246 and Kelly White finishing tied for 82nd with a 252. Dinah Plyler tied for 86th with a three-day total of 253.

PINEHURST, NC ? UNC Greensboro finished in seventh place at the Pinehurst Challenge women’s golf tournament, hosted by the College of Charleston at Pinehurst No. 8.
Maryland led the team standings wire-to-wire, carding a team score of 917, to better UNC Wilmington and Mississippi by five shots. UNCG finished with a team score of 943 to finish three shots ahead of SoCon rival College of Charleston.
The Spartans were led by Ashley Mylton, who finished in a tie for 18th at 234. It was the fourth Top 20 finish this season for the sophomore from Charlotte, NC.
UNC Wilmington’s Michelle Jarman took individual honors for the second straight year. She shot a final-round 71 to rally from a difficult second round and win the title by two shots over College of Charleston’s Angie Hill.
The Spartans return to action on Friday, March 31 when they co-host the Bryan National at Bryan Park Golf Club.
