SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference today named Georgia Southern’s Elton Nesbitt as the Anaconda’s The Rock Player of the Week for games played between January 31-February 6.

Nesbitt, a 5-9, 165 lb. guard from Deerfield Beach, FL, averaged 27.0 points per game in a pair of Eagle victories this past week. The senior, who also averaged 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game, had 32 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a win at Chattanooga Saturday. Nesbitt connected on 53 percent of his shots from 3-point range, hitting a season-high eight 3s. He then scored 22 points and had four assists and a season-best six steals in a victory over Western Carolina on Monday.

Others considered for the Player of the Week award included Chattanooga’s Keddric Mays (averaged 14.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 3.0 apg in two games) and Elon’s Brett James (career-high 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting in a win over College of Charleston).
