Southern Conference Men's Tennis Results from Feb. 26

The Citadel 6, Davidson 1

 

Charleston, S.C. - The Bulldogs swept the doubles point and continued to roll through singles action as The Citadel cruised to a 6-1 victory over Davidson Sunday afternoon in Southern Conference tennis action. The Bulldogs recorded straight set victories in every individual win of the match and have won their third consecutive match.

The Citadel (4-2, 2-0 SoCon) took the early lead as Daniel Dossetor and James Eason teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles over the Davidson (5-3, 0-1 SoCon) pair of Flaviu Simihaian and Ethan Jaffee while the tandem of David Lara and Nick Medica clinched the doubles point for the Bulldogs with an 8-6 win over Davidson's Joe Cheaney and Phillip Compeau.

In singles action, The Citadel's Eason put a halt to the two-match winning streak that Davidson's Phillip Compeau was riding entering Sunday's match. Eason easily won the No. 3 singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Compeau. Meanwhile at No. 2 singles, Ananda Sawmynaden recorded his first singles victory of the season with a 6-4,6-4 win over Davidson's Ethan Jaffee.

The lone Davidson point came from Matt Hartman at No. 6 singles who recorded a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over The Citadel's Derek Jose.
